U.S. 1 Widening & Beautification

The U.S. 1 Widening & Beautification project is now complete! In summer 2013, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began road widening of U.S. 1 in Cocoa from Pine Street to Cidco Road. During the road widening, FDOT is installing storm water pipes to improve draining on the road. In addition, Cocoa Utilities Department replaced the aging water mains and waste water pipes.

In an effort to beautify the stretch of U.S. 1 currently under construction, the City of Cocoa and the U.S. 1 Corridor Community Redevelopment Agency set aside approximately $1.5 million in funding to provide upgrades to U.S. 1 to include decorative street lights, texturized median treatments and landscaping to intersection medians at Forrest Avenue, Dixon Boulevard, and State Road 528 interchange.
