The HUB Zone program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities. These preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUB Zone certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUB Zone. The company must also maintain a "principal office" in one of these specially designated areas.
The HUB Zone Empowerment Contracting program provides federal contracting and sub-contracting opportunities for qualified small businesses located in designated areas.
Fostering the growth of these federal contractors as viable businesses, for the long term, helps to empower communities, create jobs, and attract private investment.
Cocoa has Census Tracts that are designated non-metropolitan HUB Zones by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). For more information on HUB Zones, visit the SBA's site on the HUB Zone Program.
